The best party of the holidays for me is hosting family and friends. As you know, I love throwing a party and whether its big or small there is always the opportunity to make your guests feel special and add a little sparkle to the event.
With some of our friends, we decided against exchanging presents with the kids – our kids are so lucky to have so much already and we really just wanted to embrace the ‘reason for the season’ which for us happens to be time with our loved ones. So we had them over for a Gingerbread House and Ugly Sweater Cookie decorating morning and it was so much fun to put together. And even more fun to see the crazy mess the sprinkles and icing created! Ah, but the beauty of kraft paper is being able to rip it all up and toss it away so easily 🙂
Each little guest had a place setting with their initial, a Christmas cracker, a treat box to take their creations home in and a gingerbread house.
I thought it would be fun to let them use ‘fancy’ glassware for their milk and water. And of course, Christmassy paper straws.
So we just had to have all the traditional Holiday colours – red, white, green. I really love the teensy little Christmas tree sprinkles.
But I really am having a pastel-moment so I had to bring in some amazing jewel-toned gummies and some super shiny sprinkles.
It was awesome because the kids got to let loose and just make a mess and get creative. We were actually surprised that the younger kids spent more time on their houses than the older ones!
I hope you all have a super duper Holiday break with your friends and fam! Enjoy celebrating even the tiny daily moments…something I’m working on for the New Year 🙂
